- Camosun has announced that that all currently-running courses would be transitioning
to alternate methods of delivery. The full announcement can be found at
Camosun Information about COVID-19.
Effective immediately, there will be no more face-to-face lectures on campus.
- Here's what that means for Stat 157:
- I will be providing lecture notes on the Stat 157 webpage as usual,
plus YouTube videos with the same voice-over explanations that you
would normally get in class.
- I will check email regularly. If you want to send me a photo of
some handwritten work, please do so – just make sure that the photo
has high contrast and good lighting so it's easy to read.
- I will be sending out email updates regularly. If you are not
currently receiving email from me, please email me at
wrean@camosun.ca as soon as possible!
- Revised Assessment Plan:
- Online Test 1: 35%, covering material normally covered by in-class Test 1
- Online Test 2: 35%, covering material normally covered by in-class Test 2
- Online Test 3: 20%, for the remaining material in the last weeks of class
- WeBWorK: 10%
- Revised Test Dates
- Test 1 has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 24,
starting at 11:30 am
- Test 2 still on Friday, April 3,
starting at 11:30 am
- Test 3 is on Tuesday, April 14,
starting at 9:30 am
- More Test Info:
- I will put the test on the course webpage at
Tests page at the start time
and email everyone a link.
The test will be in PDF form and will be similar to the usual test format.
- You will have two hours to complete the test and return it to me (see below).
If you are registered with CAL, please email me for further arrangements.
- Tests will be open book and open note: during the test you may access
your lecture notes, the course website, the textbook on D2L and any
practice exercises you have done, and the WeBWorK homework, should you wish.
You are expected to do the test on your own with these resources
but with no outside help.
- Acceptable formats:
- Students with tablets may annotate the PDF directly.
- You may also print it, complete it, and then scan it or take photos of it.
- You may email me or send me a Word document with your answers
– please label everything clearly! For
special characters, please just type out "x-bar" and "sigma" rather than
trying to include special characters.
- Please take a look at last year's test
to see the kind of questions I will be asking. If anyone wants to do a
trial run of scanning a document and emailing it to me, I'm happy to receive it
and tell you whether I found it readable.
- Students from out-of-town have been asking me whether they can relocate
from Victoria and still finish my courses successfully. Effective immediately,
there is no in-person component for Stat 157. As you can see from
the assessment plan detailed above, if you have access to email,
the internet, D2L, my web pages, and WeBWorK, you should have everything
you need to complete the course.
